Come enjoy a beautiful day on the Jersey Shore and help raise awareness for Lyme disease by participating in our 5K run/walk fundraising event. Our 3 mile run or walk will be fun for the whole family. Working together we can all make a big impact by raising money for research to fight this debilitating disease.  Bring all of your friends and family member, and help us make a difference!

LDA Provides Lyme Education to School Nurses
On March 10, 2010, LDA President Pat Smith will provide a Powerpoint presentation on Lyme disease and schools issues to 75 school nurses K-12 from the Morris County New Jersey School District. 

LDA Corning/Fingerlakes Area Chapter & LDA Brings Lyme Education to the Schools
On March 24-25, LDA President Pat Smith will travel to Corning, New York, to team up with LDA Chapter Director Dr. Lis Heininger to present 6 assemblies to students at two middle schools. Also on the 24th, the district is sponsoring a Lyme education program for health teachers and nurses who will receive credit for attendance. LDA will provide an overview of the disease and the impact of Lyme on students and strategies in the school.

Speakers Address Educational Needs of Multi Systemic Illness using Lyme as model
LDA provides educational grant to support speakers
At the 2010 Annual Conference of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) on
March 11th -14th St. Louis, Missouri, Sandy Berenbaum, LCSW, BCD, Judith Leventhal, PhD, and Patricia Exman, Education Advocate will be presenting “Complex Multi-System Medical Illness: Educational Needs and Advocacy Strategies.” Using Lyme disease as the model, the presentation will provide information about the complexity of symptoms and resulting cognitive and functional impairments that can interfere with a child’s ability to learn and attend school regularly. Lyme Disease Association and Time for Lyme are co-sponsoring an exhibit table at the Conference. Please refer to the COPAA website for conference details.

Western Connecticut State University - Brookfield, Newtown and Ridgefield Lyme Disease Task Forces- Brookfield, Danbury, Newtown and Ridgefield Rotary Clubs are jointly sponsoring a Lyme disease Seminar & Health Fair April 7, 2010 6-9PM (speakers begin at 7) at the Western CT State University in Danbury. Dr. Richard Horowitz, internist, Pat Smith President of LDA, and Jennifer Reid Community Coordinator of the BLAST Lyme disease Prevention Program will be the speakers. Minnesota Lyme Action Support Group on the Radio!
Lyme disease will be the topic on KFAI radio, Wednesday, Jan 13, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The show, “Truth to Tell,” delves into issues not talked about in depth in the mainstream media. Host Andy Driscoll will talk with Dr. Elizabeth Maloney, MLASG medical consultant, who studies and analyzes Lyme disease research and treatments, and Leslie Johnson, who coordinates the St. Louis Park Lyme Disease Support Group. Tune in to 90.3 in Minneapolis or 106.7 in St. Paul, or stream the show from the KFAI website. The show will be archived and available for two weeks after the broadcast.
